Announcing Casting Notice for Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles
Listed as #42 on America’s 100 Top Plays, Amy Herzog‘s 4000 Miles is a modern intergenerational coming together, featuring two leading roles; Leo, age 21; and his grandmother, Vera, age 91.
While on a cross-USA biking trip with his best friend, Leo is involved with an accident. Dealing with the loss and shock, he does not go home but rides the rest of the way straight to his grandmother’s apartment in New York City, arriving in the middle of the night.
Dealing with her own challenges, his grandmother Vera meets him at 3 AM, and opens the door to Leo and the coming several weeks of their unexpected visit.
Other characters include:
-
Bec, also 21, college student in NYC, Leo’s kind-of-sort-of biking partner and girlfriend. Are they in love? It’s complicated.
-
Amanda, 19, Chinese American, passionate, opinionated, politically astute fashionista who wants to be an influencer.
Auditions will include readings from the script. Sides for preview and preparation can be found here.
Production dates are from November 9 through the 19th. All positions are paid.
Table work rehearsals will begin and start Oct 2 & 3. Staging rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Oct 9.
The two-character nature of the majority of the scenes allows for flexible scheduling beyond the ordinary evening times. The schedule will be dovetailed to work with the schedules of the actors.
Available roles include Leo, Bec and Amanda.
Leo and Vera make up the majority of the play. Bec and Amanda are outstanding featured characters with excellent acting scenes.
Auditions are scheduled for Sept 9 at 11am-1pm. And will take place at the Warwick Theatre, 3927 Main Street, KCMO 64111. Parking is available behind the building.
